Daycare . Boarding . Behavioral Counseling

Let your dog have a day of play in our 5,000 sq. ft facility while you are at work or play!  Healthy dogs of all ages are welcome! See our eligibility page to find out what you need and how to get your dog started.

Not only will your dog get copious amounts of exercise while he romps, runs and wrestles, he will also be sharpening communication skills and learning social graces! Walks and time at the dog park can be more fun when your dog learns how to react to and interact with other dogs.

Wag the Dog's philosophy is based in the sciences of animal behavior (ethology), physiology, neuropsychology, and positive learning theory.  These theories provide us with the tools to teach your dog proper play patterns in a positive environment.

Importantly, we recognize moderate, prolonged exercise (at least several hours at a time) like that provided at daycare can have a therapeutic influence on dogs' physiology. It releases endorphins, serotonin, and other chemicals in the brain that make your dog happier and better able to cope with stress.  Exercise also promotes a calm, relaxed feeling that can actually help reduce some stress-related behavioral problems, such as anxiety.

See our eligibility page for details on getting started!

2005 Best of Portland Reader's Poll

While WW's crew of reporters has been checking out chicken coops and spicy racks all around town, we've been hearing from readers about the places and people that make Portland so, well, weirdly great. This year, we received more than 3,450 total votes in our 2005 Best of Portland Readers' Poll, of which 599 were eliminated because they were multiple submissions or didn't include proper identification.
